NICE TO MEET YOU
I’m Stephanie Milliron
LPC, LPCC
She/Her, They/Them
EMDR Therapist in Minneapolis, MN
and online in Minnesota and Arizona.
It’s time to take charge of your life and bloom into your authentic self.
If the idea of “traditional” talk therapy makes you want to run in the opposite direction, then you’ve come to the right place. While there is a time and place for talk therapy, sometimes you just need something as unique as you.
If you’re looking for my credentials, you can find some of them at the bottom of the page because they’re just a bunch of letters that mean nothing, if there’s no connection with me, as your therapist. It’s far more important to me for you to connect with me as a human.
It’s my mission to create a space where you feel as unique, vibrant and sparkly as you truly are, even if you struggle to see that right now.
First thing first, forget everything you think therapy “supposed” to be like. My role is a supportive guide to help you to nurture the parts of you that needs more care, help you to prune away what’s holding you back and help you bloom into your authentic self, so you can thrive in your community outside of therapy. It’s about empowering you to take control over your mental health excursion.
You might think therapy is going to be talking about your trauma and ugly crying the whole time, you know what I’m talking about, everyone has been there; where your eyes are red and puffy, tears streaming down your face and snot’s running out of your nose everywhere. It’s ultimately your choice if you do or do not want to work on trauma.
Therapy isn’t only about the heavy stuff but we will jump into that only when you say you’re ready to do so. We will embrace and nurture compassion, laughter, lightheartedness, curiosity and genuine human connection.
It’s only when we can create an authentic connection and place of belonging can the real therapy work begin.
My Guiding Values
01 Compassion
Compassion is at the core of what I do, I want to help alleviate your pain and suffering. Giving you the space to come as you are so you can bloom into the person you want to be. It also includes taking time to meditate and reflect on things I’ve done well and things I can still improve on. Compassion is often found in the smaller things we do in our daily life like smiling at someone or holding the door open. Self-compassion is just as important as having compassion for others. self care is not selfish, it’s self compassion.
02 Knowledge
Knowing, I don’t know everything. I learn as much from my clients and my clients learn from me. Knowledge is the true power of society. It comes in many shapes and forms, including but not limited to, education, oral traditions, family and friends, religion, elders, books, experiences and so many other ways. Knowledge is a willingness to be open to hearing others’ opinions, even if I don’t agree. It is important for me to in a constant state of willingness to learn from others and/or absorb new information.
03 Embrace the Weird
Embracing my weird, silly, awkward, nerdy, quirky, mysterious person I am, in whatever way I can. It also means that I embrace all the weird shit that comes my way. So long as it stays within the confines of being ethical, I am still a mandated reporter. I want you to be able to embrace your authentic self without shame. I love to say, weird is where the magic lives and who doesn’t need a little magic in their Life? I focus on what’s important to me and not what others think of me, in order to live my authentic life.
04 Authenticity
I’m going to tell it like it is. However, there is a difference between being an asshole and being authentic to the truths you hold. Compassion is just as important as authenticity to me. You can be compassionate while still telling the truth. Authenticity is me telling you I don’t usually ask you to do something I haven’t done myself. It allows the freedom to color my hair whatever color I want because I like it, wear whatever clothes I want or listen to whatever music I like.
Finding a therapist can be as daunting as online dating, going to the dentist, doing your taxes, taking out the trash or doing the dishes but with maybe even more existential dread. But I’m just as human as you are so here are some stuff about me that has nothing to do with therapy to help you start to know me, not as a therapist but as a human. Warning: some other therapist might keel over and die from the amount of self disclosure I’m about to give you but like I said, I’m not your average therapist, I’m weird!
WHO I AM
I can cruse like a sailor but if it’s not your jam just say something and I can tone it done, I won’t be offended.
I have cats and I’m obsessed with them. Before you ask, yes I’m THAT lady. I’m a crazy cat lady and I LOVE it!
Please see my value above: embracing the weird.
I have a really, really, bad sweet tooth
I can’t get enough tattoos
I enjoy reading
I love all kinds of music but my favorite is early 2000’s rock/punk rock/emo.
My Professional Background

I have over 10 years of clinical experience. I have worked in community mental health (those on state insurance) supporting a diverse population. While working there, I had the wonderful opportunity to work in a collaborative environment coordinating care with psychiatrists, other therapists, case managers and peer support.
I’ve also worked in an integrated primary care and mental health care practice specializing in perinatal mental health. I mostly supported mothers who were trying to get pregnant, through their pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.
Additionally, I have worked in the field with an integrated team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and case managers. Where we worked together as a team to support those with chronic physical and mental health concerns. Along with helping meet some of their basic needs.
All of this has led me to starting my own private practice, where I have been for just over 3 years now.

I’m trained in variety strategies including but not limited to Mindfulness, EMDR, DBT, CBT, Trauma therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), Coping Skills, Perinatal Mental Health and Guided Imagery. The work we will do together will be guided by what you want to get out of therapy and what you want this experience to look like.
